An holistic approach to well being

Counselling

Abigail is a member of the Britiah Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists.  She is presently working as a counsellor for Mind, Kendal, as well as for her own private practice in Ambleside, Cumbria.  Previous to setting up her private practice Abigail worked for Luton Foyer Drop-in Centre and Herts Young Homeless, both in Hertfordshire.

As an integrative counsellor I draw on a variety of theories.  I mainly work in a Person-centred approach, drawing on Gestalt, Bowlby and Transactional Analysis.  This allows me to tailor the way I work to suit the individual client and their needs, rather than the client having to fit into my way of working.

Each session is 1 hour long and cost £30.

When working with a client the first thing I aim to establish is a safe and trusting environment in which both parties feel able to be honest and open.  As a counsellor I am not here to judge my client in any way, tell them what to do or provide them with the answers.  I believe that my client will know what is best for them when supported in the right environment.  We embark on a journey together.  This journey is a collaborative exploration of the self, through which a greater understanding of the client and their needs will be revealed, and through this greater understanding desired changes can occur, as well as a greater sense of understanding and acceptance.  With a greater level of understanding and acceptance a greater sense of happiness and well-being can be attained.
